Back in March 2020, just after the UK and other countries were entering into a period of lockdown, David Brazier (Dharmavidya) began sending out 5 minute podcasts to an increasingly wide-ranging list of subscribers. This has led to the creation of an online sangha which is now called the Global Sangha.
The Amida shu is an international sangha, with groups and centres in different parts of the world. During the first lockdown in March, while we were stuck at home, an old friend of the sangha asked if they could take refuge. We couldn’t do this in person so we held a refuge ceremony online for the first time. We thought that we might as well see who else might be interested in taking refuge and started to connect with several people living in different parts of the world. We decided that it was important to support this group of people and so continued to meet. Since then, we have created more online sessions to provide the opportunity for individuals living across the globe to gather, practice and talk. For individuals who had read David Brazier’s books and wanted to find out more about Pureland Buddhism this was the perfect opportunity.
Here you will find updates and news about Global Sangha teachings and events, as well as the most recent Newsletter and archives of past editions. Check back often!
